Marjorie A. Dolan, 91, a lifelong resident of Hovey Street, Ipswich, died September 12, 2008 at the Caldwell Convalescent Home following a long illness.
Born in Ipswich October 30, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Ruth (Dodge) Dolan and was a 1932 graduate of the former Manning High School. She went on to attend Salem State College and the North Shore Children's Hospital School of Nursing, where she trained in preschool education.
For many years, Miss Dolan owned and operated the "Small Fry Nursery" from her Hovey Street home, from which she retired in the 1980s.
She loved children. In addition to her nursery school children, she also nurtured and helped raise her nephews and nieces. She also enjoyed home gardening and sewing for her family and friends.
Miss Dolan was a 75-year member of the First Church in Ipswich.
She is survived by a sister, Ruth Barrows and her husband, Raymond, of Ipswich; her nephew, David Barrows of Tampa, Fla.; two nieces, Cynthia Leshin of Sedona, Ariz., and Marjorie Barrows of Phoenix, Ariz.; her grandniece, Lisa Barrows of Tampa, Fla.; and three grandnephews, Todd Haughton, Jesse Gaudette and Benjamin Gaudette, all of Phoenix, Ariz.
She was the sister of the late World War II casualty Edward L. Dolan.
