GULF SHORES, Ala. - Frederick W. Joslin, 82, of Oyster Bay Village, formerly of Athol, Mass., died July 8 in South Baldwin Regional Medical Center, Foley.
He leaves his wife, Ethel (Butler) Joslin; a son, Frederick Joslin in Virginia; two daughters, Susan E. Kavanaugh of Ipswich, Mass., and Nancy A. Gay of Westfield, Mass.; a sister, Muriel J. Joslin of East Templeton, Mass.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was born in Athol, son of Bertram and Annie C. (Kryander) Joslin, and was a Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific from 1944 to 1946.
Mr. Joslin was a general agent for State Mutual Life in Springfield, Mass., and western New York.
He served on the Board of Selectmen in East Longmeadow, Mass., and in offices of the East Longmeadow United Methodist Church. He also served as a director for many associations in Massachusetts. He served a term on the board of directors of Gulf Shores Golf Club, where he was a member since 1977 and started the "Amigo's" group of golf players. He was also named a Paul Harris fellow by Hampton Roads, Va., Rotary Club in 1998.
