DERRY, N.H. - Harold E. Wiles Jr., 72, of Derry, and West Melbourne, Fla., formerly of Worcester, Mass., a longtime telephone worker and round-dance caller, died yesterday in Foley Family Hospital, Methuen, Mass., after a short illness.
He leaves his wife, Dorothy E. (Hannah) Wiles; a son, Edmund Brown of Portland, Ore.; six daughters, Christine Hoffman of Bradford, Mass., Linda Bell of Bow, Sandra Jauhola and Cheryl Small, both in Colorado, Donna Beeman of Holden, Mass., and Marcia Wiles in Florida; three brothers, Robert Wiles of Sturbridge, Mass., Norman Wiles of Auburn, Mass., and Barry Wiles in Arizona; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of Harold E. and Dorothy (Robinson) Wiles, and lived here 30 years. He spent many winters in Florida. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Wiles worked for New England Telephone Co. here for many years before he retired. He was a round-dance teacher and caller for 30 years in New England and Florida. He was a member of the American Legion, Rufus Putnam Lodge of Masons in Paxton, Mass., and Bektash Temple Shrine in Concord.
