  The Gazette (Colorado Springs, CO) July 3, 1991 GEORGE MONROE IRELAND, 77, of Security died Tuesday at his home. He was retired from the Army. Mr. Ireland was born March 3, 1914, in Mitchell, Neb., to George M. and Mabel (Henderson) Ireland. He had lived in Colorado Springs since 1960 and also had lived in Korea, Germany, Georgia and California. Mr. Ireland was in the Army from 1944 to 1966 and attained the rank of master sergeant. He was decorated with the Bronze Star with U Device, French Croix de Guerre with palm medal and Combat Infantry Badge, among other awards. He was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Ireland was married Aug. 16, 1936, in Harrisburg, Neb., to Kathleen Ireland, who died in February. He is survived by a son, John of Santa Barbara, Calif.; two daughters, Patricia Ann Rusch of Security and Kathleen Popish of Sunnyvale, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
