  Daily Record Ellen M. Betassa, 82, of Ellensburg passed away Sunday, May 6, 2001 at Royal Vista Care Center in Ellensburg. She was born in Bluffs, Ill. on May 31, 1918, the first child of Croney D. Mills and Sadie (Dunham) Mills. Her parents and Ellen moved to North Dakota in 1920 and she graduated from high school in Wahpeton, N.D. in 1936. The family moved to Ellensburg later that year. Ellen married Bert Betassa in 1937. For the next several years, Ellen and Bert traveled as Bert worked as an operating engineer on heavy construction jobs throughout the Northwest. Ellen and Bert operated Bert?s Laundry Ease on Columbia Street from 1949 to 1973 when they retired. They enjoyed many years of fishing together, gathering mushrooms and picking huckleberries. In her spare time, Ellen liked to crotchet and do other crafts.
