HUTCHINSON - Nila J. Showalter, 77, died Nov. 24, 2007, at Hutchinson Hospital.
She was born Aug. 19, 1930, in Amarillo, Texas, the daughter of William D. and Harriet E. Martin Norris. She graduated from Hutchinson High School in the class of 1947. A lifelong resident of Hutchinson, she was a baker at the Hutchinson Town Club and later at Furr's Cafeteria.
She belonged to New Hope Baptist Church and was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie No. 1550, Hutchinson.
On Sept. 14, 1962, she married Leemont W. Showalter in Hutchinson. He survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Eugene Balsmeier and his wife, Debbie, Blackfoot, Idaho, Jim Showalter and his wife, Patti, Enid, Okla.; two daughters, Janice Shelley and her husband, Joe, Hutchinson, Linda Anne Dorris and her husband, Paul, Dardanelle, Ark.; a sister, Nadine Redinger, Hutchinson; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great- granddaughters; and her loving dog, Precious.
She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Balsmeier; two brothers, Kreston and Keith Norris; and a sister, Blanche England.
