Josephine Damron
Beloved Anchorage, Alaska, resident Josephine Damron, 95, passed away on June 20, 2023.
She was born to parents Tom and Lucy High in Walters, Okla., on Aug. 17, 1927, where she was the youngest of 10 children. She attended college at Oklahoma Baptist University.
Josephine met and married her husband, Gene Damron, on Feb. 15, 1947, in Walters.
In 1966, they decided to make Alaska their new home. She was a longtime member of Muldoon Road Baptist Church, South Anchorage Baptist Church and Anchorage First Baptist Church. Josephine enjoyed playing the piano and embroidery, she volunteered at Heritage Christian School where her grandchildren attended and was a great southern style cook. She was a joyful Christian mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She served the Lord with her life, teaching Sunday school and playing piano for the churches. Josephine never met a stranger and had many friends. Her family was the delight of her heart. The grandchildren have many wonderful memories of their time at grandma's house.
She is survived by her son, Floyd Damron; daughters, Ann Chapman (Jim), Alice Womac (Johnny) and Loretta Railing (Scott); 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Damron; and nine brothers and sisters.
