  Portland Press Herald Tuesday, January 11, 2005 WEEKS MILLS -- Harriet "Hattie" C. Haskell, 92, of Weeks Mills passed away on Monday, Jan. 10, 2004, at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation at Glenridge in Augusta. She was born in China on Sept. 17, 1912, a daughter of Joseph McGrath and Lilla Belle (Norton) Melvin. She attended The Plains School in China and Bessey High School in Albion. In 1929, she married Guy Orris Haskell in Albion. She was a charter member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Augusta and a longtime member of the Weeks Mills Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, as well as the Boynton-Webber Unit No. 179 American Legion Auxiliary in South China. For many years, she worked as a nursing assistant at the Country Manor Nursing Home in Coopers Mills and Volmer's in North Vassalboro. She was predeceased by her husband, Guy Orris Haskell, who died in 1961; and one son, Phillip O. Haskell, in 1949. She is survived by her children, Linda Wenzel and her husband, Allan, of Weeks Mills, Ann Parks and her husband, Richard, of Harpswell, and Mark D. Haskell of China; one brother, John Witham of Augusta; two sisters, Pearl Tutor of Siloam Spring, Ark., and June Bisbee of Chelsea; as well as six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
