  Webb & Rodrick Funeral Home Emily Lucille Root, 90, formerly of Independence passed away Sunday, October 19, 2003 at the Good Samartin Hospital in Olathe, Kansas. Lucille was born August 30, 1913 in Crawfordsville, Indiana to W. Frank and Amy Kay (Rush) Delano. She went to school in Lambert, Oklahoma. On March 24, 1934, Lucille married Gilbert L. Root in Fairview, Oklahoma. They moved to Independence in 1952 from Cherokee, Oklahoma. Lucille was a homemaker and went to work for Electra, retiring in 1978. Lucille and Gilbert retired to Bernice, Oklahoma on Grand Lake where they enjoyed the lake with family and friends. They loved to fish, go dancing and traveling to visit family. She also loved music, her flowers and friends. She always had a smile on her face for everyone. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert, one son, Ronnie and her parents. She is survived by three sons, B.D. Root and his wife, Linda of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Jerry Root of Independence and Randy Root and his wife, Cathy of Independence, Kansas; one daughter, Linda Lewis of Olathe, Kansas; one sister, Lois Martin of Alva, Oklahoma; fourteen grandchildren; twenty three great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; three sister-in-laws, Onie Delano of Carmon, Oklahoma, Verlene Delano of Ringwood, Oklahoma, and Vinita Root of Palm Desert, California; and many nieces and nephews.
