  San Jose Mercury News January 22, 2006 Farrell F. Zabel passed away January 15, 2006, at the age of 82. He leaves his wife of 60 years, Dee, two sons; Dennis and wife Kathy, and Donald, his grandchildren; Clint of Iowa and Melanie of San Jose, great grandchildren; Ryan, Kayla, Madison, Gary, and Logan. He also leaves two brothers; George of San Pablo and John of Eureka. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Ethel Zabel and an older brother, Stanley. Farrell was born in Ismay, Montana and came to Eureka, California in 1932, where he lived until moving to San Jose in 1947. He was a General Building Contractor for 30 years. He served as a radio operator with the artillery in the U.S. Army in World War II in the South Pacific.
