Funeral services were held Thursday Aug. 4, 1977 for Mary Lou (Mrs. Lyle) Watts, 48, who died Monday, August 1, 1977 in the Allen County Hospital, lola, KS.
She was born on July 13, 1929 in Hansen, Idaho to Ralph M. and Lucy M. Smith.
Her family moved to Mound City, Kansas when she was two years old. In 1940 they moved to Pleasanton, Kansas.
She was graduated from Pleasanton High School and went to work in Pittsburg, Kansas as a clerk typist until she was married to Leo P. McGuirk in February 1950. She lived in Warrensburg, MO., Pittsburg, Kansas and New Mexico, returning to Pleasanton at the death of her husband in November 1952.
She lived with her parents and son, Patrick, in Pleasanton until she married Lyle A. Watts on June 28, 1962 and moved to Yates Center where she spent the rest of her life.
She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Yates Center, and served as a deaconess, church school secretary-treasurer and chancel choir member. She was also a member of the PTA and an active leader of a 4-H club.
Survivors include: her husband, Lyle, her children, Patrick M. McGuirk of Pittsburg, Lou Ann and Morgan of the home, her parents Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Smith of Pleasanton. and two brothers Charles of Leavenworth and Delmer of Kansas City, Kansas.
