  The State Journal-Register (Springfield, IL) June 4, 2002 SPRINGFIELD - Byron L. Stephens, 68, of Springfield died Saturday, June 1, 2002, at Memorial Medical Center. He was born Sept. 14, 1933, in Springfield, the son of Isaac Richard and Katherine Louisa Day Stephens. He married Ethel L. Sexton in 1956. Mr. Stephens was a carpenter for New Frontier before retirement and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of AMVETS 257, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 437, Carpenters Local 16, American Bowling Congress and AARP. Survivors: wife, Ethel L.; a daughter, Marilyn (husband, Rick) Gorbett of Springfield; a son, Daniel L. (wife, Beth) Stephens of Springfield; six grandchildren; a brother, Les Stephens of Springfield; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
