  The State Journal-Register (Springfield, IL) July 11, 1991 Mrs Irene Houston, 68, of Springfield died at 2:08 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Medical Center. She was born Dec. 3, 1922, in Springfield, the daughter of Melvin E. and Dessie Bell Henderson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, in 1981; two brothers, Melvin and George Henderson; and one sister, Bertha Sexton. Mrs. Houston was past president of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 158 Auxiliary. Surviving are two brothers, Donald and Floyd Henderson, both of Springfield; three sisters, Dorothy McCoy, Helen Elmore and Mildred Homer, all of Springfield; several nieces and nephews.
