PONTIAC -- LeRoy Casson Curtiss, 87, Pontiac, died at ASTA Care Center of Pontiac. Cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment will be at a later date.
LeRoy was born June 9, 1920, in Rowe, a son of Claude and Myrtle Casson Curtiss. He married Pauline B. Fishel on Feb. 9, 1939, in Kentland, Ind.
Daughters, Carolyn L. (Pastor Art) Headley, Bloomington, and Marilyn L. (Steven) Carls, Flanagan; five grandchildren, Christopher Carls, Michael (Tara) Carls, Joseph (Christie) Carls, James (Leah) Carls and Charity Beth Carls; one great-granddaughter, McKayla Carls; two stepgranddaughters, Christina Headley and Jennifer Headley; and one stepgreat-grandson, Caleb Tyson.
Two sisters, Juanita Lopeman, Pontiac, and Eileen Kurensik, Streator.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Keith Curtiss. LeRoy attended Willow School at Esman Township, and graduated from Cornell High School. He served our country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. He had been employed at the Seneca Ship Yards in Seneca. He and his wife had owned and operated Curtiss Drive Inn, LeRoy's Drive Inn and Pauline's Chicken Villa. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Pontiac. He managed the Pontiac Little League for 21 years. He and his wife were voted into the Route 66 Hall of Fame. He was a lifelong avid Chicago White Sox fan.
