  Mason Funeral Home Sylvia Horton, 76, of Winner, SD, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2009 at the Avera Gregory Healthcare Center in Gregory, Sylvia Maxine (Rice) Fisher-Horton was born January 15, 1933, on the Cadwell place south of Colome, SD, to Charlie and Olga (Foyert) Rice. Growing up the family lived on many different farms. They would have card parties on Saturday nights. Sylvia married Teddy Earl Fisher on May 31, 1949 in Pierre, SD. They were blessed with six children. After the oldest two children were born the family moved to the White River. They later moved to a farm south of Colome, then to the Nelson place south of Winner. Sylvia lost Teddy on September 30, 1980. Sylvia met Charles Horton in 1981. They married on September 1, 1984. After the children were grown, Sylvia got her GED. In 1977 she took one year of business school. In 1981 she went back to college and earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. She then went to work for Southern Plains Behavioral Health Services as a Care Manager. Sylvia enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. In the summer she loved to go camping and fishing. She spent many afternoons and evenings playing cards. She loved her trips with her brothers and sister to the casino. Sylvia thought the world of her grandkids and great grandkids. She is survived by her husband of 24 years Charles Horton of Winner, SD, five children; David (Marie) Fisher of Winner, SD, Terry (Kate) Fisher of Westerville, OH, Diane (Pat) Brown of Winner, SD, Randy Fisher of Winner, SD, and Gregg (Kerry) Fisher of Lincoln, NE, and two step-children Thelma (Mike) Van Steenwyk of Valley, NE, and Stan (Tonja) Horton of Winner, SD, two brothers, Gene (Twila) Rice of Winner, SD, Clyde Rice of Winner, SD, three sisters Yvonnie Leetch of Winner, SD Connie (Don) Luther of Witten, SD, and Lilly Long of Winner, SD. She has 32 grandkids and 28 great grandkids. She is proceeded in death by her first husband Teddy Fisher, one daughter Linda Fisher, three sisters Julia Johnson, Claradean Rice, and Josephine Rice, one brother John Rice, two sister-in-laws Betty Rice, and Grace (Shorty) Rice, three brother-in-laws, Bill Leetch, Gaylord Long, and Maynord Johnson, and her parents Charles and Olga Rice.
