ORANGE- Beverley Atherton Chamberlain, 74, of 43 Cottage Street, died Friday evening, September 11, 2009 at Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol, following an illness, with family at her side.
Born in Swampscott on March 29, 1935, she was a daughter of Franklin and Neda Stone Atherton Sr. and grew up in Swampscott, moving to the Tully section of Orange at 19.
She was married to Michael Chamberlain in May of 1964 and they have enjoyed 45 years together. They have traveled up and down the East coast and just moved back to Orange from Florida last year. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she loved spending time with all of them along with her many friends. Bev read her Bible and enjoyed doing yard work, watching the birds, and was especially fond of sun tanning. She always opened her home and heart to those in need. Bev was a waitress for many years at the Athol Diner as well as the Futon Factory.
Survivors include her beloved husband, Michael Chamberlain of Orange; children, David Cross of Athol, Bernie Chamberlain and his wife, Dee, of Merrit Island, FL, Melissa Girard and her husband, John, of Orange, Brenda Chamberlain and her husband, Renee, of Longwood, FL, Simon Chamberlain of Athol, Jeannie Hutchinson of Melbourne, FL, Veronica Sigurdsson and her husband, Kristinn, of Orange, Rachael Chamberlain and her companion, Tom Parker, of Athol, Kelly Rathburn and her husband, Randy, of Warwick, Nathan Chamberlain and his companion, Andrea Robertson, of Athol, and Ruth Walsh and her husband, Steve, of Athol; 47 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a brother, David Atherton and his wife, Delores, of Gardner.
Bev was predeceased by a brother, Franklin Atherton Jr. on August 8, 2004.
