NORRIDGEWOCK -- Janet E. "Jean" Tracy, 91, went home to be with the Lord Sunday evening, March 14, 2004.
Her family moved from New Brunswick, Canada, to Starks shortly before her birth. She was born in Starks on Jan. 3, 1913, daughter of William I. and Nellie M. (Barber) Lynds, the tenth of 12 children. She attended Starks schools.

Sewing, knitting, and crocheting were her pastimes, but she especially enjoyed baking and making big meals for family. She liked spending time at their various camps on North Pond and going to dances. They spent several winters in Florida.
When Vince became ill, she cared for him as long as possible until he went into the nursing home. She continued to care for him, going there daily for six years until he died on Sept. 23, 1995.
She was a longtime member of the Federated Church and the Somerset Grange.
She is survived by three sons, Clifford Tracy and wife, Esther, of Skowhegan, Clayton Tracy and wife, Sally, of Ashby, Mass., and Hilston Tracy of Erie, Pa.; two daughters, Muriel Woods and husband, Maurice, of Danvers, Mass., and Mildred Larouche and husband, Joseph, of Fairfield; 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Lewis Lynds; three sisters-in-law, Doris Tracy of Norridgewock, Helen Lynds of Anson, and Cora Lynds of Embden; numerous nieces and nephews.
