  The Barnstable Patriot John M. Scammon, 76, died March 19, 2005. He was the husband of Ann M. (Quinlan) Scammon for 52 years. Mr. Scammon was born, raised and educated in Wellesley. He was a lieutenant in the Natick Fire Department for 32 years and served with the Marines during the Korean conflict. He enjoyed carpentry and playing the organ. Besides his wife, survivors include two children, John G. "Chip" Scammon of Centerville and Kathleen A. Scammon of Taunton; a sister, Catherine Scammon of Falmouth; three brothers, William and Joseph Scammon of Wellesley and Thomas Scammon of Titusville, Fla.; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
