Steuben - Arnold Stanley Francis passed away peacefully at home Jan. 13, 2023. He was born May 5, 1935, in Corea, Maine to the late Guy and Mura Francis.
Arnold graduated from Sumner High School in 1953, the first graduating class. In 1955, he married Louann Stinson and after a brief time in Texas with the Army, returned home to his beloved Downeast Maine to help his father in the lobster business for a short time, before settling out on Pigeon Hill in Steuben, Maine and starting his own lobster business, A.S Francis and Sons.
Arnold was a very determined individual, an extremely hard worker and was passionate about his business. He loved his work more than anything except his family, whom he would do anything for. He always liked to be busy and on the move, going for a drive, working on his cars, attending local basketball games, bowling and going out for pizza. His smile could make you feel like a million bucks. He was definitely a force to be reckoned with, and we will miss him.
Arnold was predeceased in death by his wife, Louann Stinson Francis.
He is survived by children, Arnold (Gus) G. Francis (wife Kim) and Marion (Mimi) Alley (husband, Larry); six grandchildren, Sarah Worcester (husband Rob), Mary Francis, Arnold G. Francis Jr. (wife Jillian) Liza Fisher (husband Tim), Ben Alley (wife Aimee), Morgan Stilwell (husband Ryan); and nine great-grandchildren, Lucy and Max Worcester and Anna Francis, Ada and Jackson Fisher, Liam and Mia Alley, Dillon and Chelsea Stilwell.
