Edrie Maxine Carter, 82, died October 13, 2011 at Blue Hill Hospital. She was born in Mt. Desert, April 10, 1929 the daughter of Claude C. and Ruth E. (Ricker) Turner.
She grew up in Seawall. Edrie graduated from S. Portland High School in 1948. She loved traveling and fall leaf peeping with her husband. She enjoyed camping and 4-wheeling. Every Thursday she looked forward to going to Sylvia's with family and friends. Edrie also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and loved to read. She enjoyed time with loved ones and had special adventures with her grandson. She was a member of the Ladies Auxillary in the American Legion, past state president of the Rural Letter Carriers Association Auxillary and was active with the Relay for Life of Hancock County.
She is survived by sons, Buster Carter and wife Linda of Ellsworth, Gregory Carter of Franklin, GA, Timothy Carter and wife Bonnie of Princeton, Daniel Jr., (Butch) and wife Dawn of Ellsworth; daughter, Joyce MacIlroy and husband Gregg of Glenburn; grandchildren, Dawn Coffin and husband Jeff, Valeri Carter and Mike Webb, Kristie Carr and husband Steve, Melissa Carter and Matt Fields, Brittany Carter, Danielle Carter and Corey Kidder, Ben Carter, Kimberly Carter; great-grandchildren, Samantha Coffin, Rebecca Coffin, Ashley Carr, and Ashley Andrews. She will be missed by her special friend, Louise Day.
She was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband of over 50 years, Daniel E. Carter, Sr.
