SALEM, NH: Francis "Split" Latulippe, 93, died on February 27, 2015.
Francis, born in Pelham, N.H., moved to Lawrence at a young age, where he resided for more than 75 years. A non-materialistic man, having lived through the times of the Great Depression, Split enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and had a love for card games, especially 45's.
In 1939, he enlisted in the Civilian Conservation Corps and was sent to Gunnison, Colo., for a government project. In 1941, he enlisted in Battery C 211th Army Field Artillery Battalion, as a field lineman, and served his country with great pride during World War II overseas in France, the Rhineland and Central Europe. After the war, he served for many years as a National Guardsman. Francis belonged to the Laborers International Union of North America AFL-CIO Local 175 for 68 years.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Blanche, whom he met in Saco, Maine, while stationed there during the war; daughter, Frances and her husband, Adrien Ginchereau; sister, Dorothy Battle of Lawrence; brother, Raymond and his wife, Mary, of Nalcrest, Fla.; three grandchildren, Tracy and husband, David Standen of Salem, N.H., Leah and husband, Jose Fondeur of Derry, N.H., David Ginchereau of North Andover; and four great-granddaughters, Adrianna, Vanessa, Ryan, and Carly.
