FROSTPROOF -- Mr. Carlton L. "Ike" Curtis of Frostproof died Friday (Aug. 23, 1996) in an Ellsworth, Maine, hospital. He was 73.
Born in Calais, Maine, on Oct. 4, 1922, he moved to Harrington, Maine, and graduated from Harrington High School in 1940. He was a lobsterman and service manager at Morrison's Chevrolet in Ellsworth. He served in the Army during World War II, in the 10th Mountain Division in the European Theater. He was a member of the National Association of the 10th Mountain Division in New England and in the Southeast chapter. He learned the trade of a machinist and dye maker in Boston and worked in Manchester, Conn. He retired in 1980 and worked for Branch Pond Marine while at Mountain View Campground.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor (Brown) Curtis, Frostproof; son, Joseph F. Curtis, Prospect Harbor, Maine; daughters, Carolyn R. Caron, Hyannis Port, Mass., and Mary L. Curtis, Mystic, Conn.; stepdaughters, Patricia A. Thorsen, Auburn, Maine, Jean M. McGraw, Hancock, Maine, Dawn T. Ray, Ellsworth, Marjorie L. Severence, Gouldsboro, Maine, Sally L. Horton, Yarmouth, Maine; stepson, Dwight H. Thorsen, Fort Kent Mills, Maine; brothers, Chester Curtis, Ralph Curtis, Francis Curtis, and George Curtis, all of Harrington, Maine; a grandchild; and nine step-grandchildren.
