Bangor - Glenn Melvyn Manring Jr., 88, of Hudson and Hulls Cove, passed away after a two-and-a-half-year battle with Dementia March 23, 2020, at a Bangor healthcare facility.
He was born December 25, 1931, in Bar Harbor, the son of Glenn M. Sr. and Anna June (Monis) Manring.
Glenn attended school and graduated from Eighth Grade at which time he started working on his grandmother and uncle's farm. In 1952, at the age of 21, he was drafted into the Army. He proudly served in the Korean War until 1954.
In 1964, he married Elaine Whitney. Despite their divorce, they remained good friends.
After many years of living life as a single man, he decided to tie the knot again July 28, 2001, to Gale (Gaudette) Boston.
Glenn loved his old cars and was a member of the former Coastal Antique Auto Club. He loved tinkering on his cars or anything "antiquish". He loved riding in his 1931 Ford Coupe, and later in his 1930 four-door Ford Sedan around Bar Harbor, up Cadillac Mountain, or wherever he struck out. Glenn was an excellent carpenter and a "pack rat" for anything old (if it didn't work, he loved the challenge of fixing it).
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his grandmother, Clora (Tracy) Manring, and his uncle, Mervin Manring, who raised him. He was very devoted to them.
Surviving, are his wife of 18 years; son, Glenn Manring III; daughters, Lisa Manring, and Betty Boghosian; stepchildren, Stacy Jette, and her husband, Alex, Wendy Bodenschatz, and her husband, Rick, Merrill Boston II; his very special sister, Betty Grota; niece, Rosemarie Heroux; nephew, Tom Grota. He also leaves behind fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
