George Derry Wetherholt, 68, a native of Gallipolis, died in Chillicothe General Hospital on Wednesday night. He had been in ill health for six months, and had undergone surgery.
He had been a resident of Chillicothe for 22 years, where he was an employee of the engineering division office of the Ohio State Highway Department. He was a graduate of Greenbrier Military Academy, and served in World War I as a First Lieutenant. He was a member of the Presbyterian church, and the American Legion.
He was a son of the late George J. and Blanche Derry Wetherholt and was born Aug. 10, 1894. His marriage was to the former Beatrice Staten, who survives along with one daughter, Mrs. Carl (Grace Derry) Freeman of Bellefontaine. Other survivors are two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Price (Bess) Mullineaux of Clark Lake, Mich., Mrs. John (Mary) Hubbart of Fort Pierce, Fla., John P. Wetherholt of Stellacoom, Wash., and Frank E. Wetherholt of Gallipolis.
