Town of Salisbury – Truman R. Forbes, 61, of State Route 29, Little Falls, died on January 2, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Mr. Forbes was born on July 20, 1947 in Utica, a son of late Charles and Georgianna (Brown) Forbes. He graduated from Poland Central School and started his employment at Remington Arms, Ilion, shortly after. On August 23, 1974, Truman was united in marriage with the former Joan M. Getman at the Community Baptist Church in Poland. Currently employed at Remington Arms, he was a dedicated employee having worked in various departments for over 40 years. Truman served as a little league coach in Poland in his earlier years and was an avid outdoorsman.
Survivors besides his wife of 35 years, Joan, include five daughters, Patricia Moore and her husband, Kevin of Dolgeville, Vicki Herringshaw of Salisbury, Melissa Lewis and her husband, Mike of Stratford, Suzanne Commins and her companion, John of Middleville and Sandra Keeler and her husband, Philip of Dolgeville; four sisters, Elizabeth Stewart of Newport, Joyce Rotach and her husband, Kenneth of North Lawrence, Sandra Ludwig and her husband, Charles of Frankfort and Diana Schaffer and her companion, Dean Borden of Cold Brook; his step-mother, Dorothy (Mykel) Forbes of Deerfield; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Larry.
