Ora May Bateman, 76, Topeka, passed away Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, at a Topeka hospital.
She was born Nov. 17, 1928, northwest of Topeka, the daughter of Terry H. and Viola F. Kemp Hansford. She lived most of her life in Silver Lake.
Ora was a cook at YCAT from 1976 until 1995. She also had worked at the Silver Lake Restaurant and the Ten Penny. She earlier had worked for the Delia Grain Elevator.
She had been a member of the Rebekah Lodge No. 616, Helena Chapter No. 210 of the Order of the Eastern Star and the ladies auxiliaries of the Eagles Lodge and the American Legion. She also had been a member of Joyful Harvest Church in Topeka.
She married Charles Bixby on Aug. 12, 1950. He died in May of 1965. She later married Kenneth L. Bateman on Aug. 14, 1971. He died in January of 1980. She married Harold Manis on June 30, 1998. He preceded her in November of 1999.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Naomi Moritz.
Survivors include two sons, Vince P. Bateman, and his wife, A.J., Topeka, and Charles Bixby, and his wife, Gayle, Milton, Wash.; her mother, Viola Hansford, Topeka; a brother, Marvin Hansford, Silver Lake; her son-in-law, Ray Moritz Sr., Topeka; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
