Pearl Esther Lacox Hess, daughter of Albert Eugene Lacox and Maple Forrest Mason, was born August 14, 1906 at home on a farm southeast of Nodaway in Adams County, Iowa.
She entered into eternal rest April 23, 1985 at the St. Joseph's Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 78 years, 8 months, and 9 days.
She was married Leslie D. (Kelly)Hess May 26, 1929 in Clarinda, Iowa. To this union three children were born, Milan Lee, stillborn, May 28, 1936, Bernadine Kay, December 7, 1938, and Randall Burton, stillborn October 13, 1947.
Pearl taught in country schools in and around Adams County in her earlier years and loved children. She liked to sew, crochet, cook, and spent many hours playing the piano and organ. She enjoyed life to the fullest and was always there with a helping hand to her neighbors, friends, and family.
Preceding her in death were her father, mother, two brothers and two sisters.
Surviving include her husband Kelly, a daughter Bernadine and husband, Charles Behlers; two grandsons, Kevin and Daryn; one sister, Jessie E. Akers; three brothers and their wives, Chester B. of Springfield, Louisiana, Glea M. of Nodaway, Iowa, and Paul C. of Booneville, Iowa; two brothers-in-law, Dale Stroud of Nodaway, and Bryan (Hoot) Goodvin of Corning; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
