Viola L. Pullen was born February 9, 1918 at Hopkins, Mo., and departed this life September 29, 2000. She was the daughter of Frank New, Jr. and Leatha Blake.
Viola grew up in Hopkins and on March 4, 1938, she was married to Clifford E. Pullen. To this union four children were born, Rita, Carolyn, Diane and David.
They started their married life on farms southwest of Lenox where they raised their family. In 1972 they retired and moved to Lenox, where she resided until ill health forced her to enter Clearview Homes in Clearfield. Viola had a love for gardening and flowers. She also had a love for company;
many of the relatives would spend their weekends or vacations on the farm.
Viola is survived by her children, Rita Shepherd and husband J.D.; Carolyn Day and husband Ted; Diane Spring and husband Larry; Dave Pullen and wife Charlene; 8 grandchildren, Sherri Bolinger and husband Pat; Connie Hancock and husband Dan; Christina Robb and husband Kevin; Brian Day and wife Robyn; Troy Spring and fiance Sherri, Pam Spring; Melissa and Ashley Pullen; 12 great grandchildren, Melissa, Ryan, Adam and Jennifer Bolinger; Brandi, Nathan and Kari Hancock; Nicole, Derrick and Caleb Robb, Tyler and Kyle Day; sister Melba Dawson, brother Robert New and wife Charlotte; brother-in-law Max Pullen plus special friends Bob and Roberta Lockhart, Mable Neuhardt plus numerous other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband Clifford E. Pullen in 1973, her parents Frank and Leatha New, brother Orville in WWII; her sister Iola, sister Dorothy, sister-in-law Darlene New, brothers-in-law Joe Dawson and Harold Millen.
