  Bangor Daily News November 5, 2019 Sebec - Lewis H. Dow Jr., 90, passed peacefully surrounded by his family, Sunday November 3, 2019, at his home. He was born October, 6, 1929, in Dover-Foxcroft, ME, the son of Lewis and Lillian (Mitchell) Dow. Lew grew up in Dover-Foxcroft and graduated from Foxcroft Academy, class of 1948. Following graduation, he served in the United States Army and the United States Army Reserves. Lew married the love of his life, Leona Finnemore in August of 1951. They have shared many happy years of marriage together. Lew was employed by Agway for thirty-six years. He was the manager of the Dover-Foxcroft Agway store and served his community with care. Once retired, he worked for Volka Agricultural Missionary traveling abroad to third world countries teaching them how to farm and he also enjoyed driving school bus. Lew contracted Macular Degeneration years ago which caused his eyesight to fail but that did not stop him from being active. He shared his love for music by organizing and directing a community choir which performed an array of showtunes at the local churches and nursing homes. He developed a love for woodworking in his later years and said he wished he had discovered working with wood sooner. He cheered for the Foxcroft Academy sports teams and his favorite professional teams; Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. However, his heart was most full when he spent time with his family and said he couldn't have been more blessed. Lew was a member of Masonic Lodge #52, a long standing member of the United Methodist Church and more recently found a fond fellowship with the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church. He is survived by four children: Deborah Dyer and her husband, Dennis of Dover-Foxcroft; Judy Dow and her spouse, Deb of Sebec; Shirley Manzo and her husband, Thomas of Maricopa, AZ; and Lewis H. Dow III and his girlfriend, Renee of Millinocket. Lew leaves behind several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Each child held their very own special place in his heart. He is also survived by his sister Luella Ostrofsky of Easton, CT and many nieces and nephews.
