  Find-a-Grave Florence Eddie Baldwin, born June 13, 1893, in Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan, daughter of Francis "Frank" J. Mattler (aka Barney Baldwin) and Phebe I. (nee Juneau). It appears that Phebe did not know her husband's true identity, as she was using his alias surname of Baldwin at the time she gave birth to Florence. At this time, the couple were no longer together. On the birth record is written "(adopted)". William Warren Haskell and his wife, Dora Ann (nee Etheridge), a couple from Massachusetts, adopted Florence. They had a son, John Frederick Haskell, born July 3, 1890 in Massachusetts. It is unknown if John Frederick was also adopted, or a biological child. Sometime before 1900, William and Dora separate/divorce. William remarries in 1900 to Miss Sarah Francis Garner. John and Florence are living with thier mother, Dora, in June, 1900 in Mattapoisett, Mass. Dora is a live in housekeeper and the children, 9 and 6 years old, are listed as boarders in the home and are attending school. Sometime shortly after this, the children end up in an orphange, The New England Home for Little Wanders. In October, 1900, they are placed in foster homes, John Frederick in the home of E. Drake of Marion, Ohio, and Florence in the home of Frederick Welsh of Wyandot, Ohio. In 1910, Florence is living as a foster daughter in the home of Frederick S. and Daisey E. Welsh in Antrim, Wyandot county, Ohio. Her brother, Fred, is living as a servant in the home of Emanuel and Lulu Drake in Marion, Ohio. Florence marries a young man, C H Donalson, of Morral, Ohio, on June 19, 1910. He is a farmer.
