WHEATON, Mrs. Alice (Coville), passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2002 at Kairos Dwelling on Gull Road, Kalamazoo. She was born March 7, 1911, in Charleston Township, Kalamazoo County, the daughter of Floyd and Maida (Henson) Coville.
She worked at Fuller Manufacturing after graduating from high school and business college. For twenty-five years, she was secretary to three different superintendents at the Galesburg-Augusta School System until retirement in 1973.
She married Glenn I. Wheaton on July 16, 1930, who preceded her in death in 1996.
Alice is survived by 2 daughters and 1 son, Joanne Wheaton of Galesburg, Lila (Ira) Carley of Lakeland, FL, and Richard (Anita DeBor) of Fremont, MI; and a sister, Elizabeth Becker of Galesburg. Also surviving are a former daughter-in-law, Flossie Molberg-Fitch; granddaughters, Rene Mc-Clain and Alice Sargeant; grandsons, Derek Wheaton, Glenn R. Wheaton and Ira (Edward) Carley; 6 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
In her younger days, she was an avid sports minded person and enjoyed camping while bow hunting. At one time she was a hole-in-one golfer and also enjoyed attending Galesburg High School football games. Alice was a member of the Galesburg United Methodist Church and was an honorary member of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel.
