  The Cape Codder (Orleans, MA) December 9, 2005 EASTHAM - P. Bishop Covell, 78, of Eastham, died Dec. 3 at Eagle Pond in South Dennis. He was the husband of Elizabeth A. (Holmes) Covell for 55 years. Mr. Covell was born in Worcester, the son of a Baptist minister and from a musical family. Music became his passion. He attended Classical High School in Worcester and received an undergraduate degree from Gordon Seminary in 1952. He was the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Peabody from 1950 to 1957; Court Street Baptist Church in Auburn, Maine, from 1957 to 1968; and the Warwick Central Baptist Church in Warwick, R.I., from 1968 to 1993. Mr. Covell was co-founder of the Cornerstone Geriatric Care Center in Rhode Island in 1972, a member of the Cape Cod Interfaith Council, and served as a chaplain in the Coast Guard Auxiliary, as well as a lieutenant colonel in the Civil Air Patrol. He was a member of the Cape Cod Amateur Ham Radio Club. Mr. Covell spent summers in Eastham on Cape Cod, and gave a lifelong commitment to providing furniture and clothing to the needy. Besides his wife, he is survived by his five sons, Timothy, Peter and James Covell of Eastham, Jonathan Covell of Brewster, and David Covell of Saunderstown, R.I.; and his daughter, Jean Leyton of Eastham; 12 grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews.
