Richard D. Johnson, age 71, of North Muskegon, died Saturday evening, Jan. 9. He was born July 23, 1927, in Grand Rapids, and married the former Miss Mary White on May 19, 1951. He had worked for the West Michigan Dock and Mart before his retirement. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served his country during World War II, was a member of the VFW Post No. 8846 and the American Legion Post in Whitehall. He was also a member of the Muskegon Eagles and the Fraternal Order of Police in Twin Lake.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; his two children, Thomas (Amy) Johnson and Susan (Dan) Hunt, all of Twin Lake; his four grandchildren, Renee and Rochelle Johnson and Brea and Chase Hunt; his sister, Virginia Copenhaver of Muskegon; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Julie and Donald Langquist of Mississippi; and his three nephews and one niece.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Jacqueline Johnson in 1941.
