Olivia Chase Babbitt, age 92, passed away on Friday, July 2, 2010 in Kingsport, Tennessee.
Olivia was born in New York City to William Lyman Chase and Maybel Farrington Chase on July 5, 1917. She spent her childhood years in Palmyra, NY and later in Rochester, NY, where she attended the University of Rochester. In 1959, she, along with her family, moved to Kingsport, where she was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
As a member of the American Red Cross and the Holston Valley Hospital Auxiliary, Olivia served the Holston Valley Medical Center as an active volunteer for 39 years. These, along with many other civic interest; were Olivia's special joys. Golf was also a sport that Olivia especially enjoyed.
Olivia was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Louis A. Babbitt, who passed away in March of 1995. Her three sisters, Beryl Van den Bout of Southern Pines, NC, Marian C. Delaney of Rensselaer, NY and Laura C. Johnson of Goleta, CA.
Surviving are her only daughter, Bonnie B. Dahan, wife of M. Marc Dahan of Briarcliff, NY. Olivia also had three grandchildren, Charles Dahan (Melissa) of Murfreesboro, TN, Lisa MacCorkle (Michael) of Winston-Salem, NC and Sarah Dahan (fiance Michael Caro) of Hoboken, NJ. She also had four great-grandchildren, Juliana Beverly Dahan, Alexandra Chase MacCorkle, Charlotte Lyle MacCorkle and Max Alexander Caro.
