  Greeley Tribune (CO) February 22, 2003 LeVea Ada (Anderson) Spence Derry, 86, of Evans died Friday, Feb. 14, in Gresham, Ore., from congestive heart failure and complications from an enlarged heart. She was born Oct. 1, 1916, in La Salle. She attended elementary school and part of her high school years in Evans and ended 11th grade in Timnath. At the age of 18, she married Kenneth G. Spence in February 1934. They had three daughters, all of whom were born in Fort Collins, and moved to Casper, Wyo., in 1946. They lived in Casper for the next 24 years. During that time, she worked at F.W. Woolworth; Sears, Roebuck and Co.; and Natrona County Hospital. After she retired, Mrs. Derry spent her last 23 years in Evans, where she had grown up. In Evans, she was an active member of the Evans Senior Citizens and served on the Evans Election Board. She enjoyed attending senior functions and playing in the Evans Senior Kitchen Band. She played in a weekly card group and enjoyed sewing, crocheting and crafts. Survivors are her daughters, LeVea Arlona Brown and her husband, Charles, of Prairieville, La., LaVeral Arletta van den Steenhoven of Connell, Wash., and Lorna Kay Rathbun and her husband, Woody, of Gresham; a sister, Bertha Dwiggins of Evans; a nephew, Otis Anderson of Holtville, Calif.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Kenneth G. Spence in 1964 and Charles Everett Derry in 1994. Her parents, Otto and Della Ada Anderson; siblings, Boyd Anderson, Margurite O'Grady and Otto Anderson; half-sisters, Bessie and Geneva; grandson, Otto C. "Pim" Rathbun; a son-in law, B.M. van den Steenhoven; and numerous nieces and nephews, are deceased.
