Jean Brodd Kruse, 82, of Cambridge, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, at Hillcrest Home, rural Geneseo.
The former Margaret Jean Talbot was born June 23, 1925, in Kewanee, the daughter of Henry E. and Maude E. Whitmore Talbot. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1943. Her marriage to Everett Brodd took place May 25, 1945, in Andover. He died Feb. 2, 1978. She married Warren Kruse July 20, 1996. He died Dec. 12, 1999.
Jean helped her husband, Everett, at Brodd's TV in Cambridge until his illness in 1972 and then ran the business with his assistance. After his death, she worked as a medical records clerk at Hammond-Henry Hospital in Geneseo from 1978 until retiring in November 1994. Jean was a member of Cambridge Lutheran Church and its WELCA unit. Her hobbies included stamp collecting, scrapbooking, coins and spending time with grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family pets.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Linda Brodd, Cambridge; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Bill Downing, Andover; three grandchildren (and spouses), Naomi (Lonny) Stahl, Cambridge, Jessica (Chad) Johnson, Cambridge, Kyle Downing (fiancee, Jessica Smith), Orion; and five great-grandchildren, Kiersten and Brooklyn Johnson, Colton and Carmen Stahl and Haylee Downing. Also surviving are three stepsons and a stepdaughter-in-law, Bill and Ruth Kruse, Hampton, Bob Kruse, Hampton, Rick Kruse, Denver, Colo.; a stepdaughter, Marcia Kruse, Hampton; two stepgrandsons; a stepgranddaughter; two stepgreat-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law and their wives, Glen and Betty Kruse, Missouri, Dale and Betty Kruse, Moline; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Kruse, Moline; two special nieces, Marcia and Maribeth; and two special nephews, Craig and James.
Her parents, her two husbands and two sisters, Martha Mulhern and Mary McFarland, preceded her in death.
