Benjamen Allen Husted, 54, of 803 N. Huntington, Kennewick, died Thursday at his home after suffering from cancer for two years [of] the tongue, throat and neck. He was born in Galva, Ill., moved to the Tri-Cities in 1948 and graduated from Kennewick High School.
He joined the Air Force and after 22 years returned to the Tri-Cities and was a mail carrier, retiring from the postal service after 16 1/2 years of service. He was a member of the First Methodist Church; treasurer of Letters Carrier Union; Elks Lodge 1730; and local square dance clubs.
Survivors include wife, Elaine; daughters Theresa Crum, Okinawa, Detra Swem, Germany, Linda Sawyer, Kennewick; sons, William Husted and David Husted, both of Kennewick; stepson Fred Grant; dtepdaughter Mary Murray; mother Helen Husted, Richland; brothers, Charles Husted, Florida, Dick Husted, New Mexico, Bill Husted, Nevada, Loren Husted, Olympia; sisters Lois Edwards, Florida, Diane, Spokane, former wife, Marguerite of Texas; and three grandchildren.
