Georgia J. Husted (Jo), 70, passed away on Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer. Georgia was born Aug. 7, 1937, in Mangham, La.
She graduated from Westlake High School in 1955. On June 30, 1956, she married Richard N. Husted in Louisiana. They lived in Lake Charles, La.; Kennewick, WA; Dallas, Texas; Fort Worth, Texas; and Las Vegas, Nev., before settling in White Rock, N.M., in 1968. "Jo" was a wife and mother, a softball player, sports fan, avid fisherman, animal lover, Cajun cook, senior Olympian and friend. She was one of the people who helped design and build the White Rock Overlook baseball fields. She was always outspoken, fun-loving, and very active in sports, especially fishing. Jo was the smile that never faded, even in the hardest of times, and she will be missed all.
She was preceded in death her parents, Henry and Eula Almond; brother, John Almond; sister, Michelle Clark and husband, Richard Husted.
She is survived her brothers, Norman and Henry Almond; sister, RuBlacke; her daughter, Belinda Haag and husband William of North Las Vegas, Nev.; her daughter, Sandra Burke and husband George of Rio Rancho; three grandchildren: Travis, and Brandon Haag, and Tobias Haas and wife Sarah; and three great-grandchildren: Cameron, Carter and Cheyenne Haag; as well as a faithful canine companion, Honey. She was also the godmother of Jordan Garcia.
