  Times Herald January 23, 2005 PORT HURON -- Marian E. "Z-ma" Schmitt, 75, of Port Huron, went to be with the Lord, Friday, Jan. 21, 2005 at Port Huron Hospital. She was born to Leon and Olive Hale on April 23, 1929 in Lowell, MI and married William R. Schmitt on Sept. 2, 1950 in Lansing, MI. He passed away March 5, 1985. Marian was a very giving woman to all who knew her and she was known to her family and friends as "Z-ma". She enjoyed cooking and baking, and loved to teach her grandchildren how to cook and bake. She is survived by her four children, James R. (Marva) Schmitt of Mt. Juliet, TN, Sandra J. (Kris) Overly of Port Huron, Robert A. (Linda) Schmitt of Mt. Juliet, TN and William R. (Paige) Schmitt Jr. of Rome City, IN; her nine grandchildren, Shain Schmitt, Jaime (Nick) Cooper, Jonathan, Aaron and Katherine Overly, Jason and Keri Schmitt and Whitney and Chelsea Schmitt; a great-granddaughter, Rylee Lynn Cooper; her sister, Vivian (Charles) Dent of Lansing, MI; three brothers, Elmer (Leona) Hale and Roger (Muriel) Hale, both of Lowell, MI and Lloyd (Karen) Hale of Newaygo, MI; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Jack and Phlours Hale. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery at a later time.
