Formerly of City S. B. Haskell Dies
Graveside rites will be held here Tuesday for Samuel B. Haskell, Sr., 56, native of Painesville and former Cleveland probation officer who died Saturday at his home in Cincinnati. The service at Evergreen Cemetery will be conducted by the Rev. Dayton B. Wright, rector of St. James' Episcopal Church.
Mr. Haskell had been chief of the adult probation office of the Hamilton County Common Please Court since its organization in 1928. He had gone to Cincinnati from Cleveland after obtaining the position in a statewide civil service examination.
A graduate of Dartmouth College, he was a probation officer here about six years. During World War I Mr. Haskell was an ensign aboard a submarine chaser. A naval officer again in World War II, he helped establish the naval base at Southport, S. C. and headed the 51st fleet division in the Pacific.
Surviving him are his wife, a daughter and a son.
