John F. Babbitt Sr., 72, of Bear Hill Road, a toolmaker for 40 years before retiring in 1986, died yesterday at the Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island. He was the husband of Jeannette B. (LeTellier) Babbitt.
Born in Cumberland, he was a son of the late Charles Babbitt II and Mildred (Russell) Babbitt.
Mr. Babbitt also was employed at the Prata Funeral Home in Pawtucket for the last five years. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Patrick's & St. Aidan's Senior Citizens.
Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Janice Renehan of Cranston and Patricia Girard of Littleton, N.H.; two sons, John F. Babbitt Jr. of Cranston and James Babbitt of Pawtucket; two brothers, William Babbitt of Gary, Ind., and Francis Babbitt of Johnston; two sisters, Patricia Heinzer of California and Mildred Chadwick of Pawtucket, and 10 grandchildren.
