  The Freeman's Journal (Cooperstown, NY) January 7, 2000 CHERRY VALLEY - Mrs. Dorothy I. Hogan Beckstead, 83, of Cherry Valley, passed away Thursday, December 23, 1999 at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown. She was born August 21, 1916, in Garrattsville, the daughter of the late William and Minnie (Perkins) Tyler. She had four brothers and a sister. Beckstead was predeceased on July 26, 1947, by her first husband of 10 years, William J. Hogan. They were married in Midland, MI. Survivors include two daughters, Wilma J. Tines of Cherry Valley and Betty J. Vickerson of Cooperstown; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Beckstead was employed as a drill press operator at Chicago Pneumatics in Utica for 22 years. Upon her retirement, she relocated to Cherry Valley to be near family members and enjoyed the company of close friends. She was a member of St. Thomas Church, Cherry Valley.
