Joyce Ann (Wheeler) Zinninger, age 84, went to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, at Heritage House. She was born on June 29, 1934, in Kankakee, Ill., the daughter of the late Howard A. and Eva (Donaldson) Wheeler.
Joyce grew up in Momence, Ill., a small town on the fast-flowing Kankakee River. She graduated Momence Community High School in 1952 and Wheaton College in 1956 obtaining a B.A. in Christian Education.
Throughout her educational career, Joyce taught time released Bible classes in Giles County, Va.; worked at the Chicago Heights Community Center in Christian Studies; served at Bethel Baptist Church in Bible Ministry; and finished her teaching career at the Chicago Salem Christian School teaching pre-kindergarten for 13 years. In the fall of 1999, she moved to Cortland, N.Y., and in 2007 moved to North East, Pa. While residing in the North East community, Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, attending the First Baptist Church Tuesday night prayer group, and beautiful sunsets. Her greatest accomplishments in life was knowing Jesus, family, music and teaching children.
Joyce will be missed by all her knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, William Zinninger.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Claudia "CJ" Klecan and her husband the Rev. Bob Klecan; a brother, Ralph Wheeler (Mary) of Kankakee, Ill.; a sister, Linda Koets (Duane) of Texas; grand-children, Leila Nicole and Josiah; great-grandchild, Jelahni; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
