Edward L. Ayola, 79, of Parrish, passed away July 31, 2008. He was born and raised in Joliet, Illinois and was a public school instrumental music teacher in Illinois for 28 years. He came to Bradenton from the Chicago area 21 years ago and was the conductor of the Manatee Community Band. He received a Bachelor of Music Education from University of Tulsa, Tulsa, Oklahoma and was the principal Tuba player in the Tulsa Philharmonic Orchestra. Soon after, he attended Vandercook College of Music in Chicago and received his Master of Music Education degree.
Mr. Ayola was a US Army veteran during the Korean conflict, also played six years in Army bands and graduated from the Navy School of Music in Washington, D.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Mildred Ayola, brother, Gil Ayola, and sisters, Mildred Hernandez and Thelma Somma.
He is survived by his wife, Jan Ayola of Parrish, daughter Lora (Danny) Recor of New Hampshire, sisters, Gladys Polich and Donna (Pete) Satara of Las Vegas, Nevada, brothers, Frank Ayola of Los Angeles and Ken Ayola of Port Charlotte, grandson, Benjamin Recor, and several nieces and nephews.
