  Find-a-Grave Sgt. U.S. Army, Vietnam War-Sgt. Ericson was killed in action on his 23rd Birthday on 1-5-1970 when he stepped on a land mine near Cu Chi while serving as an 11B20 Infantryman with Co. B of the 1st Battalion of the 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. Sgt. Ericson started his tour of Vietnam on August 1, 1969. He is the son of Mrs. Rose Ann Talbot Ericson of Galesburg, Illinois, and the husband of Mrs. Joyce Reynolds Ericson of Galesburg, and they were marrried there on April 20, 1968. He is a 1965 graduate of Galesburg H.S., and was employed by the Midwest Manufacturing Corp. in town before his enlistment in the Army in 1968. He does leave one brother, Ronald of Galesburg, and four sisters, Miss Janet and Miss Debbie of Galesburg, Mrs. George Sharon Wellerow of Peoria, Illinois, and Mrs. Ray Cynthia Garcia of El Monte, California. Awards: Purple Heart Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with One Service Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal.
