Funeral services for Charles Whitman Cory, son of the late Asa and Mary (Cornell) Cory, who died Sunday in Kingfield, Maine, at the home of his son, the Rev. Charles W. Cory, Jr., were held Tuesday afternoon at the Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Norman Trafton, pastor of the Friends Church, officiated and prayers were said by Herman M. Chase. Burial was in the Portsmouth cemetery. The bearers were Mervin C. Briggs, William A. Lawrence, Herman M. Chase, Herbert Hull, Perry Berryman and John Spooner.
Mr. Cory was a lifelong resident of Portsmouth until two years ago when he went to Maine to live with his son. For many years he was engaged in farming on Middle road and about 20 years ago purchased the William T. Sherman fram opposite the fire tower.
He was the son of late Asa and Mary Cornell Cory. He leaves beside his son, two grandchildren, Paul and Elizabeth Cory. He lived on Middle road, Portsmouth until two years ago.
