The sudden and unexpected death in Washington of Mrs. Florence N. Corey, wife of Irving A. Corey of "Green End Hill" was a severe shock to all who knew her. She left here just before Thanksgiving to visit her elder daughter, Mrs. Earl Blick, and was taken ill in the early morning hours Tuesday with a severe heart attack from which she did not rally. Mrs. Corey was the oldest daughter and the second of six children of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur W. Potter, having been born in Newport January 13, 1877. Her early life had been spent in Newport, but since her marriage she had lived in Middletown, first on North Aquidneck avenue at the Corey homestead and for the the past ten years on Green End Hill, where her husband had a studio. While not in robust health for several years, she kept courageous and cheerful and accomplished much which would have seemed unsurmountable to others.
Mrs. Corey is survived by her husband, Mr. Irving A. Corey, a well known photagrapher, and by four children, Edward A. Corey of Newport, Lois (Mrs Earl Blick) of Washington, Miss Eva Corey, a trained nurse and Francis Corey, a pupil in the eighth of the Berkely school and two grandchildren. The deceased leaves three brothers, Arthur W. Potter Jr. and Herbert Potter of Newport, and Albert Potter, who has resided with Mrs. Corey, and two sisters, Mrs. Preery White and Mrs. Frank Sherman of Middletown.
Mrs, Corey had long been a member of the Middletown Christian Temperance Union.
