Smith, was very quietly solemnized on Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist parsonage by Rev. George W. Manning. Owing to the illness of the brides's sister, and her grandfather, Mr. Alfred Hazard, only the groom's parents and an intimate friend, Miss Nellie Peabody were present.

  Providence Journal (RI) December 27, 1996 FLORENCE HOWLAND O'CONNELL, 77, of 1215 Green End Ave., a licensed practical nurse at the Harbor View Nursing Home, retiring in 1976, died yesterday at Newport Hospital. She was the widow of Robert E. O'Connell. A lifelong Middletown resident, she was a daughter of the late John and Orrel F. (Hazard) Smith. Mrs. O'Connell previously worked at the former Nelson Nursing Home and the former Gilbert Stuart Nursing Home. She was a nurse at St. George's School Infirmary. She leaves two daughters, Diane M. Allen and Patricia A. Taylor, both of Middletown, 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Elizabeth Sullivan.
