  Berkshire Eagle March 26, 2001 LEE -- Albert J. "Bud" Wellington, 76, of 155 Marble St. died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Great Barrington on March 2, 1925, son of Charles and Julia Ferry Wellington, he attended schools there. He served in the Army during World War II. After the war, Mr. Wellington operated Bud's Taxi until the early 1950s. He worked at the former Monument Mountain Mill until 1962, when he became a mechanic at Fraser's Garage. He was employed by High Lawn Farm from 1967 to 1970, whereupon he moved to Roanoke, Va., and began working in general maintenance for a Jamestown housing development agency. He returned to Lee in 1990 and was employed again by High Lawn Farm. From 1992 to 1995, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier. Mr. Wellington was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a former member of the Paper Town Pacers, a square dance group. In his younger years, he was active in the Lee Little League and the Babe Ruth League, and in the Lee Community Basketball League. His wife, the former Marion E. Tyler, whom he married Nov. 11, 1948, died Feb. 26, 1991. He leaves a son, Gary "Gig" Wellington of Lee; a daughter, Linda J. Dowd of Becket, and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Thomas Wellington, and a daughter, Juliet Wellington.
