HAMPTON — N. Charles Barrett, 79, of 5 Elaine Street, Hampton, died peacefully Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at Hyder Hospice House in Dover following a lengthy decline in health. Mr. Barrett was born May 11, 1928, in Agawam, Mass., the son of the late Oscar C. and Suzie (Wrisley) Barrett. He was educated in the local schools in Agawam. In June 1947, he married his wife of 60 years, Barbara Garton, in Slingerland, N.Y. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955. A truck driver by profession, Mr. Barrett was employed by U.S. Motors in Milford, Conn., and later by LPM Corporation of Chapaqua, N.Y., where he drove for some 23 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Bruce A. Barrett and his wife Vonnie of Moultonboro, Ellen A. Russell and her husband James of Garland, Texas, and Amy L. Ficke and her husband Thomas of Fairfield, Conn.; his grandchildren, Jonathan A. and Jessica L. Barrett of Moultonboro; his sister-in-law, Jean Barrett of Troy, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Oscar C. Barrett, and his nephews Stephen and Stanley Barrett.
